She's Kind Of Emotionally Constipated...

Last weekends started a little rough, but then I went costume shopping with my dad and it was nice. I'd say I'm about 85% done, since I still need the hat and some patterns on the poncho. I think some sewing is going to be in order. You know what else makes everything better? Food. (And seriously, Legal Seafood is the greatest restaurant ever. You get some swordfish, and some snap peas, and that yummy rice with the peppers in it... And pretty much they just give it to you like that, without all of that fancy shit you don't want. :3)

ANYWAY. I meant to post this all the way back then, but October 16th was Boss Day. Yaaaaay BB, yaaaaay Boss... =D

Also Mum made lobster pie, but not before having the lobsters dance around the sink to the tune of the Mario Bros. theme (provided by me.)

(lol Metal Gear references in Exit 51.)

Okay, yeah, so Friday was so insane, I'm not even going to go into the insane part because it would be extremely boring both to read and to write. But the Freshman Walk was really good. I hung out with Thuy and Emily, and we talked about crazy teachers that we like and Halloween and stuff like that (Emily's going as a WWII WAAF pilot how awesome is that.) And then we could either hang around in the gym or go to class, and since I had a French test that I didn't want to take, I went to art instead with Emily and worked on my Greek bowl.

Oh! And Mr. Hanchett's wife is having a baby yaaaaay~ Because it was always the three married history teachers hanging out together, and Mr. Muller and Mr. Magner have little kids, and Mr. Hanchett was the only one who didn't. AND NOW ALL THE KIDS CAN PLAY TOGETHER AND MAYBE HE/SHE'LL HAVE CUTE CURLY BLONDE HAIR LIKE THEIR DADDY AND MAYBE MS. VANNI WILL PLAY WITH THEM AND READ THEM BOOKS LIKE SHE DOES WITH MR. MULLER'S DAUGHTER AND eeeeee~

Um.

I think I'm feeling better about NaNo this year. I was sort of nervous, but then we had our meeting and I got the juice going again and oh btw Snape as an emotional laxative lol and yeah pretty much. I know last year NaNo completely overhauled everything, so I'm hoping I can really make some progress this year too. (In overhaul I mean, for example, I have a group of characters who went from being a big happy family to being either dead, depressed, insane, insanely bitter, suffering from a poor marriage, more depressed, or really freaking batshit insane.) YAY!

So I guess no Snape/Silent Hill fic. Which is really unfortunate. But I know I'll do it eventually because it really must be done. Also I have to finish the mini!Snape!fic. I should do that.

Oh and guess what I downloaded? STARCONTROL 2 OMG. Really, I don't know when I'm going to play it, but it's there. :3 I felt like such a smart computer nerd getting the DOS BOX booted up, but I really had no idea what I was doing.

So, lastly, I'm making a CD for my grandpa with all the Phoenix Wright jazz themes. Aaaaand... Then I decided there was still tons of space on the disc, so why not put on some of the orchestra pieces. And lets throw on the John Adams theme. And some Metal Gear. And some Ouran. And some Howl's Moving Castle. And some Firefly. Anyway, now he's getting this great big dorky soundtrack mix and I actually think he would like most, if not all of it. Wow.

So yeah.

ALRIGHT LET'S MOTOR
OKAY HERE'S THE DIGEST READY SET GO~

The MHSGK found a flier near where we hang out in the morning, and it was a wanted ad for Aperture Laboratories. It offered all participants free cake, and even had little tear-off tags at the bottom. I took one, and then scribbled "The cake is a lie" on the bottom. Echo crossed mine out and wrote, "Ignore that." The next day it was gone, but I replaced it with a sign that said, "To whomever posted the flier that was once below, your awesome level is OVER 9000!!!"

During Homecoming hall-decorating, us Juniors (who had Rainforest theme) had a real waterfall with live fish, and the Sophomores (who had Beach) set up a pina colada stand before homeroom. I felt like I was at Ouran.

The Seniors had Space, so I saw several Jedi, two Leias, a Vader, and a Teletubby. Galaxy Overlord Grula-something did the announcements.

Snapekid wore a sharkfin on his head all day.

Also, Brielle dressed up as a Pikachu, because they "live in tall grass."

Another day the Juniors got to be pirates, and the Seniors were ninjas. There were several showdowns in the hall. However, I give kudos to the senior who interpreted the theme a little differently, wore a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume.

The literary magazine put together a donut booth at the carnival, and because I brought my iPod dock, we listened to Stamp On the Ground something like three times, while jumping crazily up and down. Some people thought we were awesome and bought donuts. Earl bought a donut too, but we're the ones who think he's awesome.

The carnival also had a bonfire, and while there, Echo and I burst into a rousing rendition of Snake Eater, with her breaking in with the instrumentals and me with the lyrics. We also were singing the Mario theme, during which one kid noticed and said we were awesome.

The fair was awesome, and since today is the last day, I would sort of like to go again. Opening night, which is just for people in my town because we have to put up with the traffic all week, I went with Kristen and we ate fried dough and saw a giant cow made out of butter. Also we saw the mean insult!clown, and I was extremely entertained.

She slept over that night, and I suggested we play Silent Hill since we had talked about the movie. "Oh yeah," she had said, "that movie wasn't scary at all; I laughed through the whole thing." 15 minutes into Origins, she was cowering in the corner of the couch with a pillow.

Emily saw Tim Thomas at the fair and said hello. When she told Chevy, I thought her head was going to pop off.

I've decided that for the moment, there might actually be a little too much Snape in my room. I have the action figure from Echo, a Yule Ball print on my magnet board, a giant poster from Comic Con on the back of my closet door, and this month he's on my calendar. I have to say though, I 'dawwwwww' every time I look at it, because he seems less "I'm trying to look stern and mean while I give you detention" and more "I have a headache and I haven't slept in a week and could you turn that music down a little bit?"

I finished Snake Eater... It made me cry like a son-of-a-gun, but not quite so much as Guns of the Patriots. It's close though. But anyway, Ocelot is the biggest Big Boss fanboy ever, I swear, but despite being so failtastic all the time, he's kind of actually pretty badass. Huh.

Speaking of which, Mr. Mintz said I was badass enough to kick a raging grizzly bear in the face.

I started Shadow Magiiiiiic~ LOL CAIUS. He reminds me SO much of Shoebox!Sirius, and it makes me laugh so much. And I like Mamoru. He just seems very sweet and cute and awwww. I think he might make it onto The List in the end. :3

I have the pencil sketch for my Rochester card! I had been really worried, because all of these amazing people were doing trading cards for my dad's advertising thing (for his company,) and at first when he said I could do one, it was really cool but then I got really nervous because holy crap... But it looks really good, and even though it's obviously not as good as the other ones, I think it's my personal best, and I think that's good enough.

SO. Holy crap Brielle knows how to have a party. So besides the fancy-ass bus she rented, the club was way up by the coast where all those insane multi-million dollar houses are, and it very much reminded me of something my grandparents would get into. (And I mean the loaded ones.) Anyway, aside from a DJ, there was a side room with a poker table and a professional dealer, and then a tattoo artist (I got a batman symbol yaaaay) and then they rented out a photo booth, so I took like a bazillion photo strips with people, and holy shit they had the greatest cupcakes for desert I thought I was going to die they were so good and so much chocolate but aughhhhhhh wow. :3 Oh, and there was also a smoothie bar. And there was beach access, but I didn't go out there much because it was super cold. Oh, and we threw glitter at Joby.

Which, I'd like to add, that there wasn't anyone there who wasn't awesome. So no clique-y peeps, or stupid guys, or anything like that. Although, there was quite a bit of individual drama, and I'd like to throw out at this point that I am very happy that I don't have a boyfriend. DO NOT WANT.

Anyway, for Brielle's gift, I gave her an Uglydoll, japanese erasers, and Pokemon cards. For the card, I drew Optimus Prime in a trenchcoat and those Groucho Marx glasses you see on April Fool's Day. The caption said, "Transformers: Robots in Disguise." LOL, AMIRTE. X3

Uuuuum... Okay! Now I have to go write two or three english papers depending on what else I do this weekend. Probably three. I also have to draw a card for Marisa, whose party is tonight. We are going to watch Dr. Horrible if it kills me.

Oh. That, and I have this stuck in my head. =DDDD

"Snake, I Think Ocelot Has A Little Crush."

Oh man. So I've been playing Snake Eater and man.

So, I mean, I went through the whole Raikov thing, and it's even worse than I thought. I mean, sure Raikov and Volgin look a little close in that picture, and it's a little weird that Raikov, being a Major, has Colonel privileges... But before you even get to the crotch-grabbing, you have to steal Raikov's clothes, right? And is he wearing boxers? No. He's wearing a man-thong, with a little lightning bolt on it. Wow, Kojima. Real subtle.

Also, Volgin doesn't just grab your crotch. He grabs you, and you're like wth and push him off, and then he's like wth, and he grabs you a second time, and then he yells, "WHO ARE YOU!?" And then he talks about how he knows Snake isn't his dearest Ivan, because he knows Ivan better than anyone else.

Aww... And now I know how Big Boss lost his eye. I thought The Boss was going to have to poke it out, but then he accidentally got shot by Ocelot, who was going to shoot Eva... Anyway. I felt bad. Ocelot might've felt bad too.

But you know what you can do? If you kill Ocelot or Eva or something, the screen pops up "*blank* is dead" and Zero starts yelling at you like, "That's not how the future is! You just created a time paradox and now we're all going to diiiiiiie!"

And I met Johnny's dad! Snake was stuck inside this cell and the two of them started talking, and Johnny was like, "Yeah, I'm really lonely, and do you want to see a picture of my son? He's reeeeally cute. And his name is Johnny too! We're all Johnnies, all the firstborn men of the family. So there are Johnnies all over the place!" And Snake is just like, "Wow, it sound like a big happy Johnny party." And Johnny's like "Yeah I know, right? =DDDDD"

I also met The Sorrow. *sigh* I didn't actually get the sense that he and The Boss were together really, but still. Actually, this is just an example of how, although MGS is technically a 'war game' it takes an extremely anti-war standpoint. The whole thing with The Sorrow is, "Okay, look at all the people you've killed over the course of the game, they were all people and they had families and don't you feel horrible about that? How do you like taking lives, huh? Think about how sad their friends and families are, okay? Why don't you think about that next time you pick up a gun, huh? Huh? You gonna think about that? See, death is bad, and war brings death, so WAR IS TOTALLY THE WORST THING EVER, OKAY?" But aww. The Sorrow needs a hug.

Oh hey! I just remembered, The Sorrow does actually have a sense of humor. Right before you end up in the cell block, you hit the first-person view to see The Boss standing in front of you, but if you look behind her, you see The Sorrow dancing around and waving this sign with some numbers on it, and he's just grinning ridiculously. And then when you're in jail and you type in that frequency, it opens up the door. A+, Sorrow! Thanks!

Oh, that, and Eva takes her clothes off and waves her boobs in Snake's face. Snake, in true anti-Bond fashion, pushes her away, and then something happens with a moth and Snake Eater inappropriately starts playing. So whatever that means.

Also, MGS3 easter egg reel, OMG. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ5q3UWTpns

Snape Has No CHUTZPAH

Before I say anything: Ben & Jerry's Smores ice cream is the best damn ice cream ever.

So anyway, I has this dream Friday night where I was like Meggie from Inkheart, and I could read things out of books. So I guess I was abducted by some guy who was actually kind of a creeper now that I think about it, but my escape plan was actually very methodical and well-planned out for dream!self to come up with. But... Is it a bad thing, if the first thing I do when I'm really scared is try to read Snape out of a book? Well, he came out only, like, twelve years old or something, but I got Snape!hugs and I felt better. (Okay, I'm hopeless.) And then I tried reading out Dustfinger because he would know what to do, and he showed up, but then he disappeared again because I guess I didn't read out a horse to go with him? Well, he was wearing a big silly hat anyway. So then... Oh, I thought about reading out the invisibility cloak so I could sneak out, but then I got distracted and started drinking an iced coffee instead and theeeen... Well, I dunno. I just remember waking up at about 6-ish, thinking 'ooh, I want to keep having that dream' and falling asleep again. Also, earlier in the dream, Pyramidhead was chasing me, and I was most certainly scared and not cracking jokes. (Wow. That was almost as crazy as the one with French Howl and the cowboy Star Trek peeps.)

I guess, while I'm on the subject of me being pathetically far gone, I saw Snapekid for the first time this year. We sort of converged at the bottom of the stairs, and when I turned the corner I saw Ali and Chevy grinning hugely and giving me thumbs-up. So then they caught up and we started talking (even thought he was right in front of us) and then he turned in to the Freshman/Sophomore hallway and we had to keep going, but I was talking, and I sort of looked after him and accidentally made eye contact and I keep telling myself he wasn't staring at us, but my speech went something like, "I meant he-eeeeeeeeee oh what nevermind." He just makes me laugh, though. With the hair and the headphones, and the radiostation sweatshirt...

Chevy says she stalks him at lunch sometimes, and he just stands around with his friends, a little removed with his headphones and such, just omnomnoming ramen (which, it should be known, that anyone who eats ramen is like five times cooler than they were before.) And then his friends start moving and he doesn't notice right away, so he just ends up trailing behind them all the time. Aw.

We interrupt this Snape to bring you METAL GEAR!? And not the sad MGS4 stuff. I've been playing Snake Eater at my dad's lately, and let me tell you, it's a little awkward to meet up with Eva when your dad is watching. You know, because she has this thing where she doesn't like to wear a shirt. But to be honest, I think I would have otherwise appreciated her and Big Boss/Snake getting a little touchy-feely, for the sake of them technically being Snake's mommy and daddy. D'awww. But anyway, you're climbing this ladder to get to the compound where everyone's hanging out, and Snake Eater just randomly starts playing, but all echo-y like it's in the tunnel. And I start giggling like, "It's the Boss, it's the Boss!" And then I go into first person and look up the rest of the way, and the top looks like it's about five miles up there. "Wow," I said. "The Boss' voice must reeeeally carry." *ba dum dum cht*

But yeah, sometimes my dad has no idea what I'm doing. At one point there were all these frogs around and I was like, "OMG tree frogs! I have to eat one!" and my dad is like, "W- Why would you want to do that? They might be poisonous." and I was like, "NO I HAVE TO; IT'S IN THE SONG." and he's like ?_____? and I'm like "Some days you go through the rain, some days you feed on a tree frog! It's in the SONG, so I better be FEEDIN' ON SOME TREE FROGS!"

lol

On a non-fandom-related note, GOD can I sleep. Friday night I went to bed at, like, nine, and didn't wake up until something like eight the next morning, and then I worked on my english project some, and then around eleven-ish I took a nap, and I didn't wake up until Echo called me somewhere around 1:30-ish. Mmm, sleeeeeeeeeeep, omnomnom.

Hey, so, Homecoming is starting on Friday, so I guess there's a dance or something but apparently Juniors just "don't go to those"... Anyway, the theme for Monday is Flandex Day (what the hell is a flandex) and Tuesday is pretty much just Awesome Day. Freshman and Sophomores are robots and zombies respectively, and do you know what Seniors and Juniors are? NINJAS AND PIRATES. I GET TO GO TO SCHOOL AS A PIRATE I AM SO PUMPED.

I'M ALSO PUMPED TO READ SHADOW MAGIC, I BOUGHT IT LAST WEEK OMG~

Back to the Snape. At lunch I was talking about how I was in english class with Katie, and we saw the word 'chutzpah' in the dictionary. It's a noun, meaning "supreme self-confidence." Echo is appalled at how I did not already know this word, because I do read, right? And I said that how would I know that word when all the characters I like have absolutely zero chutzpah. To which she responds in the most hilarious voice ever, "SNAPE HAS NO CHUTZPAH!!1!" And then after I finished laughing ten minutes later, I got the mental image of him sitting in the middle of this party with all these Jewish guys dancing around with chairs and he's just like, "O_______o".
Also, "IS SNAPE WELSH???"

In that same conversation, we had a bit of a miscommunication. It's what happens when you have a table so big, there are two conversations going on at once. On one side, Binks and Echo are talking about their 'Grape' ship (hahahaha) and the other group is talking about names they like or something of that sort, and Echo says something like, "awww, Grace and Snape" and Elise leans over and asks, "Hey Grace, what would you name your kids?"

Awkward pause.

We then fill her in on our own conversation, and she turns bright red and starts apologizing like mad. Of course, the worst part was that Binks turns to me and says, "Actually, what would you name your kids." After punching her in the arm, I replied that the conversation would go something like, "I dunno, what do you want to name it?" "I dunno, what do you want to name it?" "I dunno, what do you want to name it?" "Let's not name it after me." "Okay." XDDDDD

So I want to post about NaNo and stuff, and also a few more thoughtful comments on MGS4, and I keep looking for that theme for Old Snake but with the trumpets... Anyway. I'll get to that later.

"War Has Changed..."

The fact that it is Talk Like A Pirate Day has been overridden by the completion of MGS4. To put it simply, Echo and I had a brief exchange when it was all over with, asking how many times we started crying. Twice on my end, with an almost third time.

Oh. My. God.

Kojima.

If I'm going in order... The microwave chamber killed me. My fingers started cramping up and I had to throw the controller at Echo, but watching Snake suffer like that, and everyone else almost dying and it was like come on Snake keep going you're going to make it just a litter further~! And then the fight with Liquocelot, and the music oh my freaking God and then Snake Eater and then Ocelot himself surfaces and he does the finger-guns and "You're good," and oh my God maybe he was pretending to look up at Big Boss like Snape's "Look at me" line and oh my poor little heart...

On a nicer note, Drebbin shows up with flowers and wine at the end and talks with Otacon and I really do like him even if he isn't my favorite, and he has his sad little backstory, but he isn't emo about it at all...

Also, Meryl/Johnny, omg OTP. I mean, aside from Big Bosselot and Otacake... How cute is that anyway? And she proposes to him how great is that and then they get married and even in her wedding dress Meryl still has a gun holster and awww Johnny with no nanomachines and Cambell I don't hate you anymore and Mei Ling all happy!sobbing and adorable... *sigh* And my God Sunny in her fancy little dress and her hat and then-

Snake. Snake, dearie, I am so glad you didn't kill yourself. But we thought you did! I mean, I was almost sure of it to begin with and then he actually goes to the Boss' grave and puts the gun in his mouth and you hear the shot... And then Otacon and Sunny at the wedding, and I actually started crying there, because Sunny was like, "Uncle Hal, where's Snake?" in her cute little voice, and then Otacon goes on the "well, sweetie, Snake is very sick, and he went to go rest" speech and Sunny was like, "Aren't we going to go with him?" and Otacon says, "no we can't" and starts crying...

And then we get the credits and the character voices roll, and suddenly you're like BIG BOSS!? WHERE WAS BIG BOSS!? And then it cuts back to the graveyard where Snake isn't dead, and Big Boss is there what the hell and he explains everything and then they kill Zero, and then Big Boss starts dying and he asks to be carried over to the Boss' grave, and I'm going to start crying at the end of Snake Eater when I get there I know it... And then Big Boss tells Snake that he's free and he can live like a man, not a snake, which sounds ridiculous but it's totally meaningful, and he kinda pulls a Book all, "beliiiiiieve in somethiiiiiingggg" but not quite...

And at the very end Otacon says that he'll stay with Snake until the end, because he thinks that even though Snake can't pass on his genes, his story is something that should be kept for the next generation, and awww they can be all cute and gay and Snake!family together...

I guess I should talk about Raiden. Well, he suddenly has two arms again. Which, I know he lost one arm, but how did he lose the other one? Or didn't I mention that he showed up to help Snake without any arms. He looks ridiculous. Oh, and suddenly he's an electric type Pokemon, because he can shoot lightning out of his brain, so you know, that's cool. So anyway, he's in the hospital and suddenly not a robot how did that happen, and Rose comes with her and Raiden's son I forget his name, and they are actually very cute because he's all "You're my daddy!? That's awesome! You're so cool like a ninja and *neeyoom bsht keeet!*" And Raiden is just like, *tear*.

So yeah. *sigh*

"Echo, how many times have I sighed since we finished?" "A bunch."

Sorry, it's late and I'm not very coherent. I'll probably talk more about it later, especially because I have a week post I want to make about all kinds of things, so I'll get back to it.

*sigh*

What Am I Doing

My homework this weekend:

Dear Ms. Stanley,

I had a conversation with my friends: “How do we introduce ourselves to our English teachers? We’re supposed to write them letters, but how much should we ‘let them in on it?’” I answered, “Warp 9: engage!”

English is easily my favorite subject, because what could be more fun than talking about fictional characters? What could be more fun than dissecting a fictional universe? (The answer is not shopping.) So often, those people and places are so much more interesting to look at than what surrounds us, but more than anything, they are more willing to be looked at.

I once had a 13,000+ word debate on the internet with my best friend surrounding just a single character. Or at least maybe two characters, in comparing their situations and subsequent reactions to those situations. (Granted, it was a match of the Harry Potter experts: I’m the Snape expert (the basis of our debate,) and she’s the Lupin expert.) It just proves that sometimes you can’t just look at the main characters for the heart of a story. Ron, for example? How much can you really discuss about him? (Aside from, ‘oooooh, he’s so dreeeeamyyyy~’ which I might argue against.) Other characters on the other hand offer more questions: Why did Snape cling to Lily so obsessively? Is that considered healthy love? Can we blame Snape’s crazy family dynamics for his lack of social skills? Why did he choose that particular method (the snark and the black and the greasy) to release his pain/guilt/frustration/whatever we’re calling it? Is he self-destructive in that way?

We probably have a little too much time on our hands.

But really, sometimes there are just characters that strike my fancy, and not just from my own books. Examples from earlier in high school? Sydney Carton, A Tale of Two Cities. Benvolio, Romeo and Juliet. Atticus Finch, To Kill A Mockingbird. (We interrupt this broadcast for a few fangirly giggles and some internet hearts: <3333) Looking at it now, I suppose they represent the three character types that I gravitate towards most: the morally grey and secret woobie who needs a hug more than that next drink, the quiet and adorable dorky kid who’s earnest to a fault, and the intelligent lawyer/doctor/professor who’s always trying so hard to do the right thing and be awesome but it’s really tough and also his wife is dead and he’s such a good daddy and can he just have a hug please and oh here I go again…

I suppose any book, though, that’s just trying to tell a story and occasionally get a point across, or even flashing in bright red letters “LOOK AT THE SUBTEXT- THERE IS A VERY DEEP MEANING TO ALL OF THIS” is something that I would want to examine more closely. (Except for As I Lay Dying. Was that the worst book ever? Pick one: yes/yes.) If there is really only one thing I care about in terms of book choice, I’d just like to not have to read so many depressing things this year. I’m not looking for Disney, but the past few years (last year in particular) have been chock-full of death, suicide, rape, more death, some destruction, and also a most charming sequence of rape, murder, and dismemberment, followed by the consequent insanity, adultery, depression and more insanity of the victim’s family. The Lovely Bones was great like that.

Anyway. This is suddenly really long; I should probably wrap it up. Maybe I’ll end with some of my favorite things? (Which do not, generally, include raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.) Favorite books… Harry Potter obviously (but more for the story; there’s nothing exceptional about the writing itself,) Water For Elephants, To Kill A Mockingbird… Inkheart, probably, because it’s a book about books and how awesome is that… In terms of movies, my favorite is actually fluctuating between Pride and Prejudice and the new Star Trek, and please don’t ask me how that happened. Maybe P&P, because I swear that is the funniest movie ever. Between Mr. Bingley just being so incredibly dorky all the time, and Mr. Darcy either just exasperated or entirely awkward and uncomfortable, and Mrs. Bennett simultaneously making you want to laugh along with her or punch her in the face… T.V. shows! My favorite is without a doubt Firefly, which is a sci-fi show about Chinese-speaking, morally grey space-pirate-cowboys and their resident potentially-insane psychic-genius-ballerina-ninja. That is really all you need to know. Also, I’m a huge video game fan, but I can’t stand Halo or Call of Duty or whatever it is people are playing now. In my games, that’s not just a zombie, that’s a symbolic manifestation of the main character’s guilt regarding a plot twist that you might have to pause in the middle of a cutscene to think about. No, not that one, the other one.

The condensed version, better known on the internet as TL;DR (Too Long; Didn’t Read): I am a huge nerd. But I’m also a Peer Leader, and I like dressing up for dances and looking pretty; so if someone could go in my brain and figure that one out, that would be great, thanks.

I can’t believe I’m actually passing this in.

Sincerely,

            Grace Gerrish

"Oh My Gosh... His Face Didn't Come Off!"

So today I rewatched both Hellboy movies with my dad, though it was the first time he had seen them. (In the end all he cared about was that the guy who does Krauss' voice also does Stewie, which is hilarious to think about, but typical of my dad.)

Anyway, at the beginning, I had a vauge idea that for some reason I liked the second one better... And oh my God I like the second one so much better. That is to say, I don't dislike the first one, I just find the second one to be so much more engaging and- may I say it?- endearing. I was looking for the video of Abe and Hellboy singing bad love songs and getting drunk, but I can't find it on Youtube. Also, I've said it once and I'll say it again: Abe/Nuala OTP.

And athough we all know how much I love Abe, I realized that I really like Krauss, too. I think it might just be his woobie-ness and his I-Need-A-Hug-Because-My-Wife-Died-And-Now-I'm-Not-Solid-Anymore angst, but... He's really cute, with his accent, and beating up Hellboy like, 'na na na na na~" And even in the end when he quits with everyone else, he's just so great. "You can suck my ectoplasmic Schwanzstücke!"

Also, one last thing. Why is it that when Raiden jumps and spins around with his flowing blonde hair and his shiny sword, we think he's ridiculous, and when Prince Nuada does it, it's cool? Just think about that.

I haven't played much of Layton, although... Chemley wonders why Layton keeps Luke as an "apprentice" with the quotes. And apparently it's not just that, according to Luke, and Layton tries to cover it up. I realize that it's just the interwebs getting to me, but you can't deny what it looks like. X3 MAYBE LUKE IS HIS SON.

...

o_________O What if Layton is all angsty because he was married and then his wife died AND OMG THAT WOULD BE SO SAD I WOULD WANT TO HUG HIM. But that's probably not it. I just hope Luke isn't a robot! DDD= I rule out nothing.

Now that I think about it, even the trailer suggested the 'apprentice' thing was a little fishy. Hm....

"Why I Oughtta..."
This is why I like being at my dad's without Andrew. We get to do a whole mess of awesome things.

So basically, we watched Silent Hill, and then yesterday I saw the Hellboy 2 disc in the computer room, and I was all, "Oh, we should watch that" because *psht* it's Hellboy, geez. But he hadn't seen the first one, apparently, and he didn't have it, but George did, so we went to call him up. So we basically went on a joint shopping trip to Best Buy, because I guess he needed to get one of those fancy calculators for Caroline, and while we were there... :3 Well we also picked up the Dollhouse DVD and PROFESSOR LAYTON 2, OH WHAT NOW~

I know Echo's copy has a waiting list, so I figured I would get my own and not plug up the works with my procrastination. I'M SO PUMPED.

Basically, Lindsey played Trials and Tribulations, and I hadn't talked to her since SDCC when she was on the third case, and my first question was "=DDD what did you think" and she said it was awesome (of course) and my second question was "=DDDDDDD what do you think of Diego?" And she said that she liked Diego, but not Godot. And I was like what? "Yeah, because Godot is a murderer!" My psyche bar goes, "bwrrrrrrr..." Well, no wonder she didn't get most of it. I thought she had just skipped the second game, but it seems as though she played very little of the first game too. Um...? So she was like, "What's DL-6? They keep talking about it.." And she doesn't know who Manfred is, and so she doesn't know Edgeworth's deal or anything about Franziska, or Misty in general, or really the Fey family at all... And I was like, "sigh."

A word to the wise: PLAY THE PHOENIX WRIGHT GAMES IN ORDER.

Anyway, I noticed something interesting. When talking to each other, half the things that come out of either George's or my dad's mouth are quotes from something, or some kind of fandom reference. They pretty much share the same fandoms, because if George finds something awesome, he shows it to my dad, and my dad thinks it's awesome, and vice versa. They've been best friends since elementary school, and met through some fandom-related happenstance. When they were younger they totally invaded each others houses and played whichever video game the other one didn't have, particularly some game called Arctic Fox that I'm most certainly not connecting to a Shadow Moses thing at all, and in that way trying to compare the two of them with Echo and I and what what are you talking about.

So we went over their house and Caroline had a friend over, who was apparently a Harry Potter fan. I always ask, "Who is your favorite character?" because that's how you determine what kind of HP fan a person is. Nearly everyone at camp was like, "Oh, I love Ron!" or "Hermione's really awesome!" Julia kind of shrugged and was like, "Well, I really like Remus Lupin..." And I gave her a giant high five and giggled like a maniac. Of course then she goes, "But sometimes I can't decide. I really like Snape too..." And then I couldn't give her a high five because I had passed out.

So she was a really big Owl City fan too, (Echo's already seen it, but here's their music video for Fireflies, which is the best song ever) and it seems that they're playing in Boston on the 18th. I don't know if I can go, but it would still be cool. =DDD

Apparently George has seen Silent Hill, and he was at a loss as to how I didn't find it the most frightening thing ever. So I explained the game parallels, and what they did, and at which parts I giggles, while George left is mouth open in awe, and his wife looked on disapprovingly. :3 He says, "But what about when the Pyramid guy ripped that lady's skin off!?" I said, "LOL PYRAMIDHEAD DEFIES THE LAWS OF PHYSIOLOGY!" And then we started talking about Phantasmagoria, and don't get me started on that.

So we ordered Chinese food omnomnom and went downstairs to play old Three Stooges video games. Also, George proudly displayed his original Legend of Zelda game pack, and I was impressed as usual. (I mean, his house is like a video game museum or something; it's freaking awesome.) Also he has an old record player that's just amazing and gorgeous, and if I ever win the lottery I am going to find one somewhere and buy it.

After that, we watched this comedian act that was pretty funny, even though I fell asleep, per the usual. :3

So anyway, I finished up a bunch of my homework, so I can watch Hellboy with my dad and play PROFESSOR LAYTON OMG. I've started it, but only through the first few puzzles. But awww, emo!Layton, with his hat over his eyes and aw Layton do you need a Luke!hug~~~?

Edit: This is what happens when we visit George. I end up with loads and loads of tags. X3

And Who Has Time For Tears~?

There is nothing better than watching Silent Hill at midnight. Granted, I didn’t think it was very scary, but maybe that’s just because it was more like, “LOL IT’S PYRAMIDHEAD” and less “OMG HE’S GONNA RAPE ME TO DEATH.” Then again, things like that happened alot in this movie, where I was more giggly than scared... Let me go about this in a more organized manner.

First off, they kept everything except one weird little point. Alessa’s counterpart isn’t Cheryl, her name is Sharron. BIG DIFFERENCE, GUYS, REALLY. It just made it a little weird.

The makers of this movie were lucky. They didn’t have to make any kind of soundtrack at all; they just ripped it all from the SH3 game. Really. There was one point where I actually wasn’t listening to what Dahlia was saying, because they were playing this one piece (which was used over again several times) that I actually have on my iPod, because I use it as a theme for a few Life’s Work bits, but hey whatever. Also they stole the main SH3 theme for the end credits, and my dad had no idea why I knew all the words. It’s not like it’s a catchy song and I listen to it sometimes or alot. Really.

SPEAKING OF DAHLIA. I like her much better in this one. That is, she isn’t nearly as spastic or crazy or whatever, but she’s a good mommy, so to speak. She didn’t want anyone to hurt Alessa, and in fact she’s not the leader of the cult at all; she’s the outcast. And people throw rocks at her and it’s all very sad, really. And non-hobo!Dahlia is actually very pretty, if I may say so. (And did I mention that they leave her all sad and alone at the end? They should have taken her back and she could have been like Auntie Dahlia or something. Or maybe I’m too addicted to the Snake Family and I should stop with the family!fluff.) So yeah, the baddie was actually some other lady who was the principal of the school or something. Also she accidentally burnt down all of Silent Hill while torching Alessa. Obviously, a giant bonfire inside a hotel room isn’t exactly a good idea. Oops.

Like I said, I think they could have thought up a different monster, rather than Pyramidhead. I mean, I suppose it’s okay to have his cameo in Homecoming- like he’s just a leftover because James doesn’t need him anymore and now he’s stuck just dragging the Great Knife to the bar every Thursday night to knock back a few shots and oh god what am I saying…

Anyway. PH is a figment of James’ imagination; the incarnation of his guilt. Therefore, he has no reason nor right to attack anyone other than James. Why couldn’t they have just used a souped-up version of Valtiel? Give him a giant knife and I’m sure he’d be as scary as PH, if not scarier. I mean come on, how many Valtiel jokes have you ever heard? “Oh yeah, I saw Valtiel working on the roof yesterday; and man, was he just cranking!” *ba dum dum cht* Point proven.

The first third of the movie sort of copied the first game verbatim, aside from us having Rose instead of Harry. Which what was the point of that? Anyway, you have <s>Cheyrl</s> Sharron asleep in the backseat, Alessa walking into the road, they crash… Actually Cybil arrests Rose and I found that simultaneously funny and annoying… Anyway, Rose runs down the alleyway identical to the one in SH1, sans flappy monsters, the sirens go off and she continues down the Otherworld path, she finds the strung-up body, the little gremlin guys attack her and she wakes up in the diner (no Cybil there though DDD=) and then she finds a clue that leads her to the school. But then the plot goes off a bit differently, with the giant fire and the ever-burning-coal-mine-which-totally-doesn’t-make-a-good-visual-and-or-representation-of-hell-or-anything…

There was also the crying in the bathroom and the kicking all the stalls down until you find something grotesque in the last one, though I’m pretty sure that in the game, it wasn’t because Alessa was raped by the janitor or anything… O_______o Well, we found him all corpsefied and gross, so don’t you worry about that.

What else… I dunno, the zombie nurses were kind of silly. I mean, scarier than some of the other things in the movie, but maybe it’s just because I’m used to them that they weren’t, you know… Oh my God. I was actually thinking about it: am I used to Silent Hill gore? Oh my…

The ending made no sense at all. CLOSE YOUR EYES IT WILL ALL GO AWAY, YOU KNOW, THAT GROSS BURNT VERSION OF YOU THAT’S RIPPING PEOPLE APART. And poof! Oh look, let’s drive away and go home. Oh wait, why is it so misty here, and so sunny where Chris is? You know Chris, the daddy/husband? Oh yeah, I haven’t mentioned him because he does absolutely nothing. Aside from whine and be all “ASDFGHJKL;WHERE’S MY WIFE ARRRRGH~” Anyway, no one can see each other, and for some reason it’s raining while it’s sunny, over in Chris’ part. For <s>Cheyrl</s> Shannon and Rose, it looks like Silent Hill still. So… Um?

AND THEY FREAKING KILLED CYBIL. It was actually really gross; they toasted her like a marshmallow, and it was really… Well, I’m not going to go into it.

The Big Baddie death was really gross too. Think Davy Jones in POTC3 killing Beckett, but if his tentacles were made of barbed wire and Beckett kind of… Didn’t stay together… Completely… Or maybe exploded. Pretty much.

Edit: Actually, I remembered what I wanted to talk about. I find it interesting that Silent Hill takes on so many incarnations, and none of them seem more canon than the next. You have 1 and 3, with the religious crazies led by Dahlia and Alessa releasing God, and then 2, where SH is all Star Wars-like, where it's "only what you bring with you," or the movie where they burned Alessa as a witch and the Otherworld is her revenge (actually the movie has 3 Alessas, go figure.) Personally, I like the second one best, but that's just me.

ON A BETTER SILENT HILL NOTE:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRW4Ai-wZbU

My life = Complete.

"TP Is Used To Wipe Your Butt, Not Climb Down A Building."
So school's okay, I guess. Nothing particular to say about it, though Mr. Mintz is the only teacher who I actually know. No more Beeks, no more R Quad... I had to laugh, though. It says something when you get a sudden sense of comfort after the first time your teacher meows. Thank you, Mr. Mintz.

Although... Mrs. Stanley, my lit teacher, has two Star Wars posters and a Chamber of Secrets poster up in her classroom, so that seems promising. =DDD

Also, I'm psyched to have lunch with all the peeps this year. Of course, my first two lunches have been spent helping Echo explain Metal Gear to artemisrampant. Mostly just the gay. Echo says it's "gayer than yaoi fanfiction" and it "makes the twins look straight." All of this is true.

So yeah, pretty much. I think I'm going to watch the Silent Hill movie, but I'm not sure yet. I dunno, maybe tomorrow night... I guess I'll think of more to say later. ^.^

(title from Mythbusters, btw)

"Otacon, get a grip!"
Okay. I'm still a little nervous about school, but I figure I'll manage alright. =)

Camp! Camp was awesome. I met so many people and I could just go on and on and on about it. It was so much more than just, 'oh you go to camp and here's a canoe.' It was... Almost a spiritual experience? You know, they do those things where you light candles and then cast them into the campfire, 'so that your flame will add to our fire of friendship, which will burn in our hearts even after we've left this circle,' etc. etc.

We have plenty of friendship, don't you worry. I was going to the bathroom one morning and Sierra comes in and sits in the stall next to me, and after about five seconds, she starts, "So Grace, how's your morning?" Who knew you could have a deep, meaningful conversation "while taking a dump?" It was such a big joke, because for Mini Musicals the cabin next to us (Rappahanock, even though they pronounced it wrap-a-hand-a-cock) wrote three full numbers about poop, and we basically had to listen to them rehearse for several days. But anyway.

There were a bunch of kids from Santa Fe, and for some reason I mostly hung out with them. Also I made another friend (who seriously looks like a tall Chevy) who lives about five to ten minutes away from my grandparents' condo. So I can hang out with her sometimes if I want. =D

Oh god, I can't even go over all the jokes; it would take too long. But I did find this one counselor who looked just like Mr. E from 6th grade, and all I did was make fun of him, because he really was full of himself. I swear, he would hit on anything that moved. And other jokes ensued that I'm not going to go into, but I ended up writing this thing for the talent show that was very popular, and maybe I'll post it some other time. Also, other counselors were great; Ted and I had a Star Trek discussion, Alison is the coolest ever, Katie learned the first half of the Thriller dance in about seven minutes... So yeah. I'll probably sporatically post more stories as I remember them.

Now I want to talk about Metal Gear. METAL GEAR!?

Now I know Naomi is my least favorite. She made Otacon cry, and I wanted to punch her in the face. ]:< SEE MY INDIGNANT CREEPYFACE.

RAIDEN WHAT. Okay, so basically he gets in that big <strike>extremely gay</strike> fight with Vamp, and he gets all beat up and he's going to die but oh now we have some fake blood to pump into him, so he'll be fine. Okay. But then before he's fully healed, he gets up and has another <strike>slightly less gay</strike> fight with Vamp, and gets even more beat up, but then he's okay and chops up more Gekkos and he gets more beat up, but he's okay and he gets crushed by a building, but he's still okay, and then he slices his own arm off to get out of the rubble, but then apparently he's still okay BECAUSE HE STOPS AN ENTIRE TANKER THE SIZE OF A CITY JUST BY STANDING IN FRONT OF IT AND THEN HE STABS HIS OWN FOOT LIKE THAT'S GOING TO HELP HOLD BACK A 100+ TON WARSHIP/SUBMERGABLE FORTRESS/NUCLEAR SAFE HAVEN AND THEN FINALLY THE THING RUNS HIM OVER AND HE FALLS INTO THE OCEAN AND HIS SWORD IS LEFT DRAMATICALLY PLUNGED INTO THE EARTH...

Several scenes later, Otacon adds as a side comment, "Oh yeah, Raiden'll be fine." No need for excessive 'XD's here.

Drebbin is fantasic; it's like, 'dude what are you doing here, hey monkey don't touch my cigarette.' Cybooooooorg~ <333

Coolest thing ever? MGS1 throwback. Now, I've never even played MGS1, and it was still the coolest damn thing I have ever done. I knew the Shadow Moses theme and everything, so that was cool to hear, but the throwback graphics? Putting it into a dream sequence? Good one, Kojima. Oh my God. And then your little talks with Otacon, and the locker, and Otacon telling you to change the disc and then geeking out all like~ *giggle giggle giggle*

Okay, the other coolest damn thing? We're sitting there, and Otacon is like, okay, get in Metal Gear REX and we'll ride it outta here! You were supposed to shoot down the Gekkos, but we just blasted through and ran them all over. SO much fun. So we get outside and I'm like, 'whoa, what if Liquocelot shows up with Metal Gear RAY and we have a super nuclear robot battle?' And SURE ENOUGH. RAY comes blasting out of the water like a total noob!whale, and even after laughing hysterically through the whole 'let's run everything over and blow shit up' sequence, we still manage laugh hysterically through the whole battle.

Hidden/sleeping Gekkos scare the shit out of Echo and it's the funniest thing ever. I mean, they make me jump, but Echo always leaps off the couch, all while screaming, "HOLY SWEET JESUS~!!!"

I said I wanted to see more of Ocelot's finger guns. I got Liquocelot's fail!finger guns, which is almost better in the way that I couldn't stop laughing. He basically cut off power to everyone's weapons (after the ten minute cutscene of all of them showing up) and then just started pointing his finger guns at people and spazzing out like, "BAM BAM YOU'RE DEAD AHAHAHA~!" And at one point he's standing next to this machine gun that's going off, all "POW POW POW POW WHEEEEE~!" It's pretty hilarious.

I FORGOT. Even before Liquocelot does the finger guns, he jumps onto his boat and has obviously been playing too much Elite Beat Agents, because he's like, "GOOOOOOOoooOOOOOO!" And the boat goes *putt putt putt putt*. And he stands at the helm, arms folded like he's being cool, and lets his hair not flow in the breeze because there is no breeze, because they're barely going anywhere.

Best quote ever, right here. Otacon is geeking out about the time Snake blew up Vulcan Raven's tank, and starts giving him the 'you're nuts, you're insane' kind of talk and Snake is like, "Otacon, is this what you consider a compliment?" or something like that, and here's the response:

Otacon: Yes! You're the toughest, craziest, most hardcore badass on the planet! You're... the shit!"

I love you, Otacon, more than words could ever express.

Oh God, what else? I dunno, there were a couple of cutscenes where we actually had to pause it to think, and sort of work our brains around it by talking it out. Some intense stuff going on; though I still don't really understand the thing with TJ and GW. I get the whole AI thing, but I don't quite get what makes one of them bad or good, or how you get to one through the other, and why the other two aren't involved and why destroying GW wouldn't screw up the system, and why does Liquid want to destroy TJ and how is that any better than destroying GW and whatever.

But awww, Snake's mommy. =) He may be a clone of Big Boss, but he does take after her in some ways. It's cute.

And awww Snake's face got all burned. DDD= And his voice is getting raspier as the game goes on, and the whole thing is just heartbreaking. I feel like the whole microwave chamber is kind of like the reactor core in- what was is, the second Star Trek movie?- where Spock goes in there even though he knows it will kill him...

OHMYGOD.

MAYBE THAT'S WHAT THE NEXT GAME IS ABOUT.

'THE SEARCH FOR SNAKE.'

OHMYGOD OHMYGOD OHMYGOD.

:)

I'll take that thought into school tomorrow.

A Mother's Work...
I was going to post this whole happy thing about camp and Metal Gear, but I'll postpone it until tomorrow. I realize that shit happens, and that's how life is, but... There are some things I can't help but cry for.

Basically, my grandparents are moving some hours away to Connecticut, which is okay, because I know Mum and I can't take care of them. We don't have the time or money (mostly the money.) It's Connecticut in particular because that's where my aunt is, and her family will be able to take care of them. That's great.

But while I like a change of scene and pace, I'm 16. My aunt may like a change of scene and pace, but she's 40-something. My grandmother is 80. 80 year-olds, as a generalization, don't take to sudden, drastic changes very well. I say sudden, because this whole thing has developed in only about a month.

But here's the point. Already my aunt is pushing them out. She takes precious, sentimental things and throws them out behind my grandmother's back, or puts them in the 'yard sale' pile. Including things that I may have wanted, or Mum may have wanted, for sentimental purposes or not. But even more, my grandmother will still be looking at her house, her home, practically gutted for three more weeks. All the pictures are gone, though they could have been taken in the final trip. That house is full of life and history, and now it's a hollow shell full of ghosts and memories. It is so wrong to see a woman's house, built and made over 50+ years, taken apart so thoughtlessly. These aren't just things. These are her life. After all, she was always that kind of woman who had special plates for Christmas and Easter, who put out the special Thanksgiving candy dishes, who had the hummels and the teacups that I dusted so meticulously as a child... Those aren't things you can just throw in a box.

It's not the fact that they're leaving that bothers me. My grandfather doesn't seem to be entirely aware anymore, and my grandmother can't do it alone. I realize that they have to move. It's a part of life. But what makes me so angry, and so upset, it to see that life pass without its dues. Without honor or respect. Mum has already said something to my aunt, but she has made it clear- through several rude comments- that she finds my mother weak, lazy, and unmotivated. That couldn't be further from the truth.

So is that to much to ask? A little adjustment time for an old woman? A little respect? A bit of honor paid to a full life? A little sympathy for someone who might not be as quick to move on? Sympathy for being separated from the places, things, and friends that she has known for some two-thirds of her life? I'm grateful that she's taking care of my grandparents. I am. But she's only taking care of the issue of money, not the issue of the mind. And what is money in the midst of so much separation anxiety?

It's just wrong, but all I can do about it is listen to emo MGS music and try to get some sleep. Tomorrow I have Peer Leading; I have a job to do, so let's toughen up and put on a show.

And Raiden Wonders Why People Don't Think He's Cool...

I want you to picture this. Or, picture it until you can’t or don't want to anymore.

Raiden swings in with his cyber-ninja suit, hair a-flowin’, and starts flipping all over the place and hacking the non-metal gears (who sound like cows, MOOOOO) to bits with these two katanas. Despite its femininity, he's <strike>pretty </strike>I mean pretty cool. Yeah. And his ninja suit has high heels, BTW. Anyway, it’s not horribly gay, and then VAMP SHOWS UP. Vamp, “he’s called vamp because he’s a flaming bisexual.” SO. Raiden and Vamp start fighting (but not before Vamp rips his shirt off) and they’re jumping all over the place and- OH I FORGOT. Before they start fighting, Vamp very slowly (and seductively?) pulls out, (as Echo would say,) “his big, long… knife.” Which he keeps in a holster right over his crotch. Oh, and then his licks it. This battle contains lots of licking. Just assume that in between each of my sentences, Vamp licks something, which may or may not have previously been on Raiden’s face.

Anyway, so they’re doing all kinds of backflips and whatnot, while still fighting the non-metal gears, and basically they send out these tentacle things that wrap around Raiden’s high heels, so he does a handstand and starts swinging the two non-metal gears over his head by his high heels, because they totally don't weight two tons each or anything. And then he hits Vamp in the face with one. So then Vamp gets stabbed some, and then Raiden gets stabbed some, and back and forth, etc. This is where we learn that Raiden isn’t all human anymore, because apparently his blood is white. Yeah, that’s where we’re going with this.

So there’s blood all over the place (and obviously not anything else white and sticky,) and Vamp and Raiden start grappling, and I’m pretty sure Raiden somersaults through Vamp’s legs at least once, and eventually they end up impaled on Raiden’s katana. Both of them. On the same sword. Like that. So then they start humping and bumping making all kinds of ungodly noises and Kojima might have well but giant red letters on the bottom of the screen, “VAMP IS A TOP AND RAIDEN IS A BOTTOM, GUYS, OKAY? JUST THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW.” Anyway, Vamp eventually falls and Raiden gets away, though as the helicopter is flying off, Vamp gets up and looks after it, after licking what is clearly blood off of his big long knife and sticking it back in his <s>pants</s> crotch-holster.

The whole time, Echo and I were laughing uncontrollably.

SO NOW THAT THAT’S OUT OF THE WAY.

I was a little surprised by MGS4, particularly by the beginning. I wasn’t expecting the whole “OMG THIS IS WAR, GUYS. WAR.” thing, but then Echo informed me, “Oh, well, I think one of the taglines was ‘there’s no place to hide.’” To which I wonder in sincere amazement how she remembers the tagline of a game that she, at the time of its release, did not really have an interest in. But there’s Echo for you.

Anyway, old!Snake breaks my poor little heart. Whenever you crouch down somewhere and stop for a minute, he starts holding his back like, ‘ow ow damn arthritis need a freaking aspirin’ and he's emotionally fragile and stuff. He gets really tired and can't run as fast when he's really stressed out, but if you go somewhere and hide in your cardboard box, then he starts to relax. It's cute, since the box calms him down ten times faster than the cold compress or his iPod or anything. <333 Oh, of course, it also makes me want to cry inside when you're in a cutscene and someone says something like, "No, you suck, you're old." And his psych bar pops up and makes this sad little bwrrrr, like a kicked puppy, and awww. Also, Nugh, I think Snake is on my List, because he is such a freaking woobie.

You know who is freaking adorable, though? Sunny. She’s all like, “Uncle Snake! Don’t smoke; smoking is bad for you!” And my favorite line of hers, “You can’t smoke here! This is a non-smoking flight!” And she tries so hard to make her eggs, and she just wants her two daddies to be happy and oh my god they are so gay they adopted a kid together but anyway ahem. I love how when you go to the game menu, Snake keeps a little video feed of Sunny in there, like he's worried about her and oh god why are they so cute. I don't even know what else to say other that FRICK WHY ARE THEY SO CUTE KOJIMA WHAT~

Speaking of eggs, Am I the only one who thinks it's funny that they have a Solid, Liquid, and Solidus chicken? I mean, did they have their chickens and Snake starts laughing like, "Let's name it Liquid. Because it's a stupid chicken." And then they end up naming another one Solidus, and then Sunny's like, "Okay, the last one can be Solid, so we have the whole set!" And Otacon just bursts out into hysterics. Snake is not amused. And how weird would that be? Here Liquid, Liquid, Liquid-y... Uncle Hal! Solidus laid an egg!" XDDD OH WOW.

(And their gay!bears...)

I'm kinda sad about Ocelot, or possessed!Ocelot, or Liquocelot, whichever you like. It's like Kojima is teasing us like, oh, yay, it's Ocelot with his funky boots and his moustache, but then he opens his mouth and he's all fail-y and not foppish and like Liquid. I miss the finger guns. DDD=

Naomi. Put a freaking shirt on. Also, leave Otacon alone. It’s sort of weird about that, actually. I mean, usually when someone on my List… Well, I’ll say gets some action, I’m really happy about it, Spock/Uhura for example. And even if I’m not a huge fan of who they end up with, I’m still happy because- well- usually the characters I like don’t exactly have options. But with Otacon/Naomi… Well first, I feel like she’s up to something. Second… I dunno. I just feel that Otacon isn’t comfortable with it. And Echo pointed out two important things: A. The last intimate contact Otacon had (dismissing Otacake) was his stepmom sexually abusing him, so you know, that’s great and B. Otacon tells her to call him Hal, even though he’s established that he doesn’t like his name. So Naomi, GTH away. Otacon is understood and treated well by Snake, and so I see them as having a bazillion times more chemistry. Come to think of it… Is this how Echo feels about Remus/Sirius? Which, come to think of it, is extremely similar, if Remus = Otacon, Sirius = Snake, and Tonks = Naomi. Huh.

Now that I think of it, whenever Naomi would be all over Otcaon, Snake would either turn away or be like, )<<<<.

On a lighter note, you know what’s so much fun? Turning on Snake’s iPod to something totally inappropriate for the situation. Think peppy anime music in the middle of a bleeding battlefield. Why is peppy anime music on Snake’s iPod? Maybe Otacon put it there? =D

You know what else is fun? Trying to get Snake's camo suit to turn to the stupidest/silliest patterns ever. So far, fancy tiled floors and a pink quilt have both recieved high marks.

Did I mention that I played this at Echo's house? Yeah, I don't have a PS3, and she already had MGS4, so I was like, "OKAY LET'S PLAY!' So basically I played, and she watched for the characters and the gay, and then I was trying to beat Laughing Octopus and- despite how she denies it- she was hugging a pillow and whimpering every time Octopus cackled or screamed something sketchy. "ECHO, WHERE IS SHE DO YOU SEE HER!?" "WHY IS SHE SO FREAKING SCARY!?" "WHAT- OW SHE INKED ME" "OMG THERE SHE GOES SHOOT HER SHOOT HERRRRRR~" Ahahahaha, Echo. <3

Oh, and like I said, Raiden turned into a drunk!hubby and Rose left him before their baby was born and now she's married to Roy even though she's about the same age as Meryl, who happens to be his daughter... Hm...

Speaking of Meryl, I lol'd so much at exclamation-head guy in her group. Also what's-his-face with the bowel problems is too funny- we were almost sure he was Raiden and that's why he never took his mask off. I dunno, I think it's possible he's on the other side, but I do find it weird that apperently Kojima thinks these kinds of gags are hilarious, because there's a guy in MGS2 who has the same problem (and he might be in another game?) Dunno, maybe they're the same guy. X3 Actually, we were wondering what happened to Raiden and Rose's kid, we thought bowel-boy there might be Raiden's son, but I think the kid would be alot younger, like eight or something, I think. So yeah. But is there some Raiden!spawn running around somewhere? I don't know.

OKAY. I think that's it for now. I'm going to be at camp for a while, but I'll post when I get back and all. Really I will. And also I want to plan that Serenity party, but it's probably going to be after school starts and all. Urgh. Oh well. =)

The Lock Is Broken -or- I Need Scissors! 61!
I'm still perfectly aware that I haven't done a China post, or a SDCC post, and I was going to post this quite some time ago, but I was too lazy / neglectful. On the other hand, I wasn't too lazy to plow through one and a half summer reading books, even though this second one makes very little sense. As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner. At one point, one of the characters is like, "I am a fish. Or I might be. Because that fish used to be a fish and it isn't anymore so now I must be one." Or something. And there are so many run-on sentences that follow the characters entire thought process, and they all have very long and sporadic thought processes.

BUT ENOUGH OF THAT. I AM GOING TO TALK ABOUT SILENT HILL, AND THEN METAL GEAR, AND THEN THE NEWEST DISCOVERIES CONCERNING METAL GEAR 4, INCLUDING THE GAYEST (and i mean that literally, really) THING I HAVE EVER BEEN WITNESS TO.

Anyway, last week I finished Silent Hill (the first one,) in the wee hours of the morning, and I say it that way because I went to bed at nine because I was exhausted, and then at eleven I bolted awake to "AW YEAH BABY~!" *DING DING DING DING DING!!!1!* Which would be, of course, my brother and my dad shouting about baseball pinball, or whatever the hell it is, for the Xbox (360, I begrudgingly add.) But anyway, I went downstairs, half delirious, and... I really don't know what I said. But push comes to shove, buzzing awake like that generally gives me just that- a buzz- and so by midnight I decided to go downstairs and play Silent Hill with the volume down. =3 That is how it is meant to be played.

zarla is right. Dahlia is a crazy lunatic lady. Yet she stays... Likeable. On the other hand, I must say that I liked the second one better. This one basically just spits you out and says "HERE'S A LOUSY KNIFE NOW GO FEND OFF THREE PTERODACTYLS WITH IT KTHXBAI." And also, I didn't find it as scary, for some reason. Maybe I've been spoiled by Pyramidhead-ness or something, but... I dunno. Maybe it was the graphics. But I do know that I got more 'holy crap I have to run away omg run faster holy crap' scares in this one. The second one I barely used the firearms at all, and in this one I hardly used anything else. I had one panic attack during the final boss, like, "OMG AM I GOING TO HAVE ENOUGH BULLETS FOR THIS!?!?"

But anyway, I used some walkthrough to make sure I got a good ending, which, actually, didn't make much sense, but it was okay. Oh, right. I sort of didn't have a PS1 memory card, so when I died (I made sure it wasn't too often) it usually sent me waaaaay back. Except for boss battles. Those were okay, since I guess there was a little checkpoint at the cutscene there.

P.S. ---> JAMES IS SO MUCH COOLER THAN HARRY.

But then I played Silent Hill 3 soon after, with much more confusion. So, Alessa is burnt to (not)death, she makes a baby version of herself that Harry finds and calls Cheryl, then Cheryl turns seven and rejoins Alessa even though they're two different people who are the same but not really, and then they merge and turn into/ give birth to God, but then Harry kills it/her/them, and then Alessa who is also Cheryl dies, but not before giving another baby to Harry, which he calls Heather, who is now Alessa but thinks differently than Alessa, so technically she's Cheryl, who was actually Alessa in the first place. Wheee!

Also? Heather? Did you just seriously swallow something that make you puke out malformed!baby!God? And did Claudia just snatch it up and eat it? And icky aside, in an anatomic sense, I don't think the "womb" everyone's talking about is connected to the digestive tract. It's in your freaking uterus, okay? Babies don't grow in your stomach, even if they're God.

So yeah. To be honest, there were some good points in SH3, like the 'haunted house'- and then there was this other great part where you find this funky mannequin in a closet full of other manniquen parts, and you check it out like, 'oh whatever' and then you walk to the door and it screams, and it makes you scream, and you turn around and find that it has no head, and it susequently bleeding all over the place. YAAAAY SILENT HIIIIL~! (And I forgot to mention, I think I'm a little far gone. I was watching the opening, and there was this flash of a guy with glasses, a waistcoat, and a book, and I perked right up like, "Ooh, I like him." =D And whereas anyone else would have been like 'urgh, he's sorta creepy, I don't know if he's on my side,' I couldn't help but think, "But he's so freaking cute, how could he not be on my side!?")

AND THEY @#$%&* KILLED HARRY. DDDDDDD=

So now I've started Homecoming, and so far, I only have two major gripes. First, the camera controls drive me insane and grrr. Second, the combat system is super annoying. Especially with those funky gas zombies with the radioactive lungs. I don't know how to kill them without, like, four health drinks. And did I mention that you actually have to aim with your gun? That's right, no more, "JUST MASH THE SHOOT BUTTON AND HOPE IT DIES!!1!" Suddenly, SH is a shooter, and I really don't like it.

Also, I might add, Alex has a bit of a young!Liquid thing going on, because his parents are like, "Oh you came back from war? Well go find your brother, dammit! He's missing and OMG OMG your brother!" Strangely, Alex hasn't picked up on this yet.

On another note, I've seriously been considering a Snape /Silent Hill fic, but I'll talk about that later. It needs more attention than I can give it right now.

But prior to finishing Silent Hill, I finished Metal Gear. METAL GEAR!? (The second one. =3) Anyway, if that wasn't an acid trip with the whole AI thing, and the Patriots, and society in general... I already had this discussion with Echo and Chevy, but really, it was so awesome. I swear, Hideo Kojima is like Japan's Joss Whedon, and I'm not yet sure if he could surpass that. But there are several points I am going to make here:

Point 1: Otacon is so much on my List I don't even know what to do with myself. He's just so cute ALL of the time, and... Well, I guess when he's not strickly cute, he's being a woobie, and we all know what that means in my book.

Point 2: What makes Otacon even cuter might be Otacake... Or Otacon/Snake. It's weird; I think this is the first non-canon slash pairing I've ever shipped, and though Echo points out that it's almost canon... They're just so cute. And the way I see it, they're just so unhappy otherwise, Snake with his PTSD and Otacon with his family issues, that they can make each other feel better! It's kind of like Roy/Hal, in the sense of, well, how can you find anything wrong with it? Like, look at this. Otacon is like, "But Snaaaake! Smoking is bad for you! Stop it!" And you really feel bad whenever you die, because Otacon practically starts sobbing... Aw. Anyway, even in MGS4 they have the two teddy bears on the couch (one is Otacon-colored, the other Snake-colored,) but I'm not talking about MGS4 right now. But they're just so cuuuuute!

Point 3: Raiden you are such a girl. So much so, that the President of the United States has to grab your crotch to check. And my favorite: "Colonel! We've maganged to avoid drowning!"

Point 4: Vamp scares me. He is also a flaming bisexual, according to Snake. No way, I never would have guessed.

Point 5: I freaking love Ocelot. Maybe it's just the zarla comics, but he just comes off as this ridiculous mix of Jake Marshall and a little bit of Ayame. (And some Klavier, too?) Anyway, he's so funny, with his little moustache, and the spurrs, AND OH GOD THE FINGER GUNS. I think we first see that in MGS3, but I've only played about a third of it due to technical difficulties. But young!Ocelot is full of SO MUCH fail. Basically, some chick rides a motorcycle up his face, and the first thing he does when he gets up is start smacking himself in the forehead to get the rubber off. It looks like he's facepaplming. And Snake is just standing there, and he goes on this whole thing about what Ocelot is doing wrong, and he might have well have just said, "Ocelot, you can't kill me because YOU FAIL."

Snake Eaaaaateeeer~ A song about honor, survival, loyalty, and eating tree frogs.

Anyway, I'm going to camp tomorrow, but I promise I'll talk about MGS4 before I go. =3 Oh, and for Echo, here's my MGS meme fo you. =DDD

Favorite character: Otacon! Snake is a close second, though.
Least favorite character: Rose… But I like her in MGS 3 with her monster movies and all. Maybe Naomi. But she was so cute with Sunny! Mmm… I guess Roy. I find him annoying. (Or maybe that’s just in the 4th one? I haven’t seen him in any other ones.) Grr this is hard.
Character with the best hair: Raiden. BECAUSE IT’S SO PRETTY. AND YES EMMA, IT’S TOTALLY NATURAL.
Character with the best eyes: Meryl, I’d say. Otacon has nice eyes, even though I wish he would keep his glasses on, dammit!
Character with the best smile: Sunny! She’s soooo cute~! Or Laughing Octopus, according tothis.
Character I'd most want to kiss: …Otacon?
Character I'd most likely have sex with: Um…
Character I'd make lunch for: Sunny, so she wouldn’t have to cook. =) Or maybe old!Snake, because he’s such a woobie. Also, Solidus needs some love. And for that matter, if zarla comics are anything to go by, young!Liquid needs a lunch so bad it’s not even funny. D=
Character I'd go singing in the rain with: Ocelot is really the only one who would sing in the rain. Well actually, Sunny. =DDD “Puddles! 1, 4, 2, 1, 1…”
Character I'd go shopping with: I imagine Raiden would know all about it. :3 But really, probably Sunny. Unless Snake was gun shopping, I’d tag along just because it would be fun. “Ooh, ooh, what does that one do, Snake?” (Now I’m thinking about the zarla comic with Big Boss doing the grocery shopping, and Solidus in the cart like, “Daddyyyy!? Why do IIII have sit in the caaaart?” X3)
Character I'd go dancing with: TOTALLY OCELOT, OMG DO WANT… EVEN MORE THAN OTACON!SMOOCHIES MAYBE. (But Raging Raven would make me laugh. “RAAAAGE!” “No, it’s called a rave. Not a rage.” “RAAAAGE!”
Character I'd take over the world with: Ocelot, again.
Character I most want to see more of: Ocelot’s finger guns.
Favorite pairing: Snake/Otacon, Ocelot/Big Boss, The Sorrow/The Joy, Ocelot/his moustache
Least favorite pairing: Campbell/Rose >>( But man. Raiden is such a fail, his pregnant fiancee left him in a drunk stupor for some old man who is described by his own daughter as "a womanizing piece of shit." Ouch, Raiden. Ouch.

HBP Watch: Deux

Okay. So I went to go see HBP with Mum and chevy_the_geek . A few more things noticed, but nothing too drastic. Well... One thing's a little drastic.

I admit, this time around, I liked Draco quite a bit more. I actually felt bad for him. And also, Tom Felton is a wonderful actor. (I didn't realize that he was crying after the first bird died, but I was going to laugh, and then I stoppped like, "awww...") Anyway, Mum says that he's extremely good at looking evil, "like a psycho" she said, and that gave me the feeling that she didn't quite understand that we were supposed to feel bad for him. But anyway, during the Tower scene, that one line that he has, "I have to kill you or he'll kill me" was delivered very well, and I sort of wish we had seen that kind of intensity in Snape, but I think that might have been OOC for movie!Snape. The way they did it, with him just looking like he was going to throw up on Cormac instead, was alright. Though, what bothered me most, was that Dumbledore only had to plead once. I think they should have drawn that out at least a little more. And also, I know I just said the aloofness was part of movie!Snape, but I really think he could have used some expression when he actually cast the AK. Whatever.

Okay, you know what, though? I still ADORE that one flash of Snape we get at the end there right before the Lightning-Strick Tower. Something in my heart just flutters a little, and I have no idea what it is.

Ginny is still a wall, and I actually found that annoying this time around. The first time it was like, oh Ginny's being awkward, and this time it was just like... What? Again, whatever. Though I'm starting to see that while the movies made me dislike Ginny more, it also made me really like Harry. I didn't think any of the Trio, let alone Harry, might even be in the standing to be a favorite character, but... If I had a Top 7? Maybe.

This time around I actually picked up on how weird that final scene was, where Ron was almost non-existent... It's 'The Golden Trio' not 'Two Gold Peeps and Ron Whose More Of A Gold-Copper Alloy.' The other thing that bothered me was that in the Spinner's End scene, they had those bunch of kids ride by on bikes, and the book gave me the impression that SE was a really dangerous neighborhood/ no one lived there anymore, so, you know, whatever.

Also, I forgot to mention this in my first review... Harry would sleep with Snape's book? Think about that one.

Oh hey, is it just me or does Regulus sort of look like Mark Strong? You know... Prince Septimus? (I dunno, maybe that's because I saw him in the trailer for Sherlock Holmes beforehand, which looks sooooo good, BTW.) I just feel bad to think that, you know, he's one of the Inferi in the lake... OKAY QUESTION. Is it entirely made up and in my head that Regulus and Snape were really good friends? I wasn't sure. It makes sense, but... Since when is something in canon simply because it makes sense?

So Chevy and I had a HBP discussion at Panera afterward, and I sort of spammed her with Life's Work canon... Oops. XD But did you know that LW!Snape has attempted suicide four times? He's in a very different mindset each time, buuuut... Still. I hadn't realized it was that many. Well, I guess I did. Anyway Chevy agrees that he's probably a cutter, at least. Fair enough. I mean, if he's going to purposefully not take care of himself (i.e. greasy hair, too skinny, etc) then how much further is actually hurting himself, anyway? This is too dark, I'm moving on.

I realize fully that I never made a China post, and I ought to, but I'm terribly lazy right now and I can't rouse myself to do so. On the fandom end of things, which is much more manageable, I watched the first two Lord of the Rings films on the way home (THEY'RE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO ISEGARD!!!) and I really did like them. Aragorn is <33333 and is probably going to go on the List. I... Really should have something else to say about it? Gimli is funny and needs a crowning moment of awesome, I don't see how Arwen comes into this aside from making Aragorn miserable, Galadriel is a little creepy, but cool, I like Pippin and Merry, and Frodo reminds me very much of a Harry Potter, in the sense that he's emo with his burden and is no one's favorite character, even thought there's nothing unlikeable about him. Sam is totally a Ron.

And why, WHY couldn't Ian McKellan be Dumbledore? Not both Gandalf and Dumbles because that would be ridiculous, but just Dumbles. I mean... He would have been PERFECT! We wouldn't have had the GOF issue, and... Well, you know. He has the 'twinkly eyes' that Michael Gambon just doesn't.

I also finished Ouuuuuraaaan~ Oh God. I don't think I have enough time right now to do it justice, in fact, I'll make an Ouran post later, I think. Right. Because I watched the last episode on the bus ride the the Great Wall, and I almost started to cry, and... Yeah. I loved it. BRB on that.

Seeing HBP gave me a little bit of a boost, and now I'm cranking out new pieces of the Life's Work, which is always a good thing. Also character development, (finally!) for some of those OC peeps who hadn't gotten a whole lot of attention before. Also, I have Snape hanging out outside the gates until they take down the Dark Mark; I liked that addition to the movie, so I'm adding it to headcanon.

SO OKAY. I'm going to go pack for Comic Coooooon! I'l post my supposed schedule later, and I really should ask zarla if she's going this year. Maybe not, since she's been doing alot of (super super cute) MGS comics-

Did I mention that I started playing Metal Gear? The second one. Otacon is so cuuuuuuute~ OKAY TALK ABOUT THAT LATER GOTTA GO PACK BAI NAO~

NO NO NO REALLY QUICK: I had a dream last night that I had to write an in-class paper about commas and their usage, and I started it by quoting Shoebox, "Repeat after me, Mr. Black. I do believe in commas. I do, I do, I do." OKAY BYE

In Which Her Review For HBP Is In Fact A Small Novel

So I will start with this: I could not have asked for more from this movie. It was equal parts wonderful/terrible awkwardness with the Trio, Voldy’s profound yet disturbing backstory, lovely bits with the minor characters we love so much, and, of course, Snape.

There was plenty of Snape.

However, I will restrain myself and go over these four categories in the order in which they are listed. (And I’m not going to try not to talk about any kind of headcanon; just the movie.)

So, I was a bit surprised by how much of the romance was in there. It was like BAM Harry/Ginny out of the starting gate, except for what was with him flirting with that chick in the diner? Okay, whatever… Anyway, I could not stop laughing at how awkward everything was. Everything. Even Ron sitting down and offering them pie was the most awkward thing in the world. I couldn’t get enough of it. I mean just…There are too many examples. (And the little bit where Hermione points out that Ron is making it snow, I kind of giggled, “Makani!!!”)

Only the other hand, I was also surprised at how little there was of Voldy’s past. I thought that would take up the majority of the movie, actually. But no, what they did have was just the right amount, and very creepy I might add, maybe creepier than I felt the book was? But again, it was probably just because we were actually hearing Tom speak, it was like, “Whoa, freaky, okay, I got it.” But yeah. The memories were whooshy and awesome and I like the way they did them a lot.

On another more interesting note, the new Burrow scene went something like this: Tonks says something along the lines of, “The first cycle is always rough, we’d better get home” and Echo and I look at each other like, “we”? And then she calls him ‘sweetheart’, and we both stare at each other at the same time and go, “WHAT.” But, honestly, I like it better than what JKR had, no matter how random it is. Tonks has maintained her backbone. Remus seems happy, and he gets the benefits of a caring girlfriend without the angst. I’m truly liking these arrangements.

In that same scene, I sort of felt bad, because Arthur seemed so old and tired. He’s so nice, and I like him a lot, and he just seems like he’s on his last legs right there. I just found that so sad… Although I did laugh with him awkwardly sitting there with the pillow, and then just getting up really quick once Ginny sits next to Harry.

What I did not appreciate, however, was the rest of this new scene. They… What? They burnt down the Burrow? They did frigging what!? And just the look on everyone’s face, especially Molly, and I love Molly so dearly and it just broke my poor little heart… I’m going to pretend that didn’t happen. Really, I can’t stand it and if they hadn’t been stupid and switched scenes so quickly to something ridiculous and funny, I do think I would have started crying. I got teary-eyed as it was. Nugh, Mollyyyyyyy…

On a lighter note, we all love Seamus, and he was the first one to start crying at the end. It was like, “Seamuuuuuuuus!” DDDDD= Though, Echo did lean over periodically throughout the movie and whisper, “Wow. Dean’s really tall.” “Dean is so. Tall.” “Ahaha, look how much taller than everyone else Dean is, bwahaha, Dean, you’re a giant.”

Also, Weasley Wizard Wheezes, despite the lack of U-No-Poo, was so much better than I imagined it. (Though it was a little weird transferring to it from Spinner's End.) But ickle!Horntail roasted peanuts FTW.

The fact that they included Hermione’s birds made me happy, though the rest of that scene was pretty well done, I thought. Ron is the biggest dough-head, and I just felt bad. But anyway…

Oh, you know what I liked? We got to see Regulus. And is it just in my head that he and Snape were really good friends? I mean, they were the two Death Eaters who weren’t really into the whole ‘let’s blow shit up’ mentality, so it would make sense that they would hang out… Anyway, I would like to get a better look at him at some point. (Also, Slughorn had that picture with Remus!!!)

Oh, and Slughorn’s story about the fish? I actually like that a lot better than what was in the book. It’s more touching, in my opinion, though at first when he started talking about the lily I was practically hissing in Echo’s ear, “OMG SNAPE MADE LITTLE FISHIES!” And she leans over like, “No, shut up, it was Lily, Snape didn’t make any little fishies.” “Aw…” I really was sad though, and I’d really like to include that in headcanon. It’s a wonderful touch. (But yeah. I’m probably going to start saying that, like, “Poof!” “Poof.” XDDD)

Also what they did differently was after the Sectumsempra scene, which was better in the sense of time crunching, and I suppose I just like it better in general. Snape is just doing his healer thing like, “Okay I don’t have time to snark at you now,” and just him standing there in the mist was very… Well, anyway, I liked that they didn’t refocus the attention from Malfoy and the Prince book to Snape being pissed off, as was in the book, and I really, really, like Harry and Ginny getting rid of it together and how the kiss panned out. And then she was like, “poof!” But just gone poof, and not, like, dead poof. @.@ XDDD (Although I always felt bad that the Prince book was destroyed along the rest of the stuff in there. You know, the Fiendfyre or whatever is was in DH? Okay, I won’t go there.)

And I might add that Harry under Felix is perhaps the most hilarious thing I’ve ever seen, a little like Peter Parker in Spiderman III and he’s walking around like he’s the bomb and everyone’s like, “What?” Anyway, I couldn’t help laughing all during Aragog’s funeral, the whole thing was so ridiculous.

Luna! I forgot to mention Luna! OMG, okay. So her at the beginning, and being the one to find Harry was A+++++++++++++++. She is fantastic and amazing and I love her. (Also this was good because Snape didn’t have to be all mean to Tonks, which never happened in my head, thank you.) Oh, and they had her lion hat too! And at Slughorn’s party her dress was so freaking adorable, and Echo mentioned that she kind of reminded her of Kaylee from Firefly, you know, with her big cake dress? Yeah… She is just the greatest person ever.

Draco, on the other hand, is not the greatest person ever. Honestly, though he did have a few cool brooding moments, most of the time I just laughed when he was trying to be emo. He was like, “WHAH I’M GOING TO CRY BECAUSE MY LITTLE WHITE BIRDIE DIED~” Though I actually found that bit just about as emo as they intended it, I think. And ‘GRR I’M GOING TO BE BADASS AND STOMP ON YOUR FACE.’ Anyway, I’m sick of talking about Draco, though I was surprised to learn that he didn’t annoy me half as much as he annoyed Echo and Binks.

SO.

The Snape-y bits were all I thought they were going to be and more. Going in order, I was very pleased with Spinner’s End. I was a little nervous, since I had a very distinct image of his house in my mind, but I really like both (though movie SE is much smaller, BTW. Snape lives in a freaking postage stamp. Dude, where’s your kitchen? XDD Sorry, sorry.) Though, I especially love how the movie has his little desk in the corner, with the dinky lamp and old typewriter. Everything was so perfect. Even Bella fiddling with the things on his mantle and him like, “stop touching my stuff.” And then- oh right- what was with Bella trying to go all sexy on him? It was a little creepy. I think she did it with Draco later, and that’s even more creepy. Although I can only imagine Snape was like, “Oh Merlin holy crap what is that stop breathing down my neck eew get away from me this is really uncomfortable you can stop now please eeew~” Anyway, they didn’t linger on Wormtail for too long, so that was a plus (though I imagine those who hadn’t read the book were like, “Wait, what?”)

(Okay, I lied, here's a little bit of Life's Work. Aestorel at one point comments that sometimes Snape just doing mundane, everyday things strikes her as funny, and Snape's like 'what have you been smoking' and she's just like 'well yeah, you're even funny when you read the newspaper.' AND HE IS. HE IS FREAKING HILARIOUS WHEN HE READS THE NEWSPAPER.)

Also big was Slughorn’s party. That was really huge on my list of Things I Wanted Them To Get Right. And though they did it completely different, I’m still wholly and completely satisfied, and even delighted with it. The whole thing with ‘Dragon balls’ and Snape whipping back the curtain like ‘WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT DID YOU SAY DRAGON BALLS’ and then Cormac just hurls all over Snape’s shoes and he doesn’t even look down, and even still he manages to snag Harry and the whole thing was just the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. XDDD Though seeing him really struggling to be pleasant to Harry wihle giving him Dumbledore's message there was just icing on the cake. (Very delicious cake, I might add.) Ahaha, I think that might be my favorite scene in all of the Potter movies.

I really like his part in the Sectumsempra scene, just being a Big Damn Hero and doing his pretty healing thing. After that whole bit, I took a moment to absorb it before I leaned over to ask Echo, “Is it bad that I thought he was kinda hot in that scene?” Truth be told… I find it simultaneously intriguing and disturbing that- while in previous movies there would be tiny bits where I would say ‘ooh he looks good in that shot’ or whatever- HBP is the first Potter film in which I actually found him consistently attractive, which is… Odd. But seriously. He didn’t look quite as old, he seemed thinner, his hair looked perfect, the way his clothes fit and his cloak swished was all perfect… Perfect, perfect, perfect. Still not headcanon, but just about as perfect as Alan can get. This sudden line of thought, however, was not necessarily unexpected, according to Echo. Does that say something about me?

Speaking of Echo, we held each other’s hands all through The Lightning Struck Tower, Flight of the Prince, and into mourning for Dumbledore, so I’m very glad I was able to get a seat next to her so as to have that comfort, especially during Snape’s whole... Thing. Also, grabbing each other in terror whenever Greyback showed up was helpful, and laughing at Draco together was fun. In general, I was just very glad I got to sit next to her, and I don’t think it would have been as enjoyable if I hadn’t.

Now that I think back, the only Snape bit that wasn’t in it were the DADA scenes, but I’m not really mourning the loss of those. I got the things I really wanted, and I couldn’t be happier. OH! Do you want to know what made my inner fangirl do spastic cartwheels of glee, while simultaneously making my heart shatter into a million pieces (specifically the latter)? Just that tiny flash we get of Snape as he’s turning to the windows and the darkness is rolling in, and you don’t even need to see his face to feel the power in it, and it was perhaps the best three seconds I had ever seen in a Potter film. It was just particularly moving without trying too hard, and for me at least, that’s what Snape is all about.

So I told myself I wasn’t going to cry, but I did. I didn’t just get watery, either, I actually had tears dripping down my face. I’m not sure if it was Dumbledore’s death, or Snape’s pain, or a combo of both as I’m thinking it was… *sigh*

I dunno. Snape just showed up like, every five minutes, and it was the greatest thing ever. You know, like every time Draco screwed up, and oh, his face during that whole scene with Lavender is SO awkward. Although, I could have sworn I saw Dumbles shoot him a look as he said something about “the bitter sting of love,” though I’d have to watch it again to say anything for sure. But he was kinda just like, “Okay, la la la, I’m going to keep fiddling with this pretty bottle here and- oh Merlin this is so awkward make her go away already oh Merlin I’m going to throw up I think.” And also there was this running joke with how every time Snape had any kind of contact with any object, starting with the necklace, Echo would lean over and do the Snape voice, “It’s full of Dark magic…” XDDD Oh, and then he said something about Draco being obvious, and we both immediately mumbled to each other, “obviously” a la Order of the Phoenix, which I love. We all really do say that unfortunately often.

Oh, the other part they put in that made me so happy was Snape arguing with Dumbledore. There’s this line from Monster-In-Law that’s actually terribly funny (mainly because it’s Wanda Sykes who says it,) and I use it over and over again in reference to this whole thing. “I am sick. I am sick, sick, sick of your shit. And when I’m not sick, I’m tired! I am sick and tired!” But anyway, Alan just nailed it, I thought, and it was really great how he passed Harry on the stairs and you could tell he was upset because it was like he was going to snark at Harry, and then he was just like, “I really don’t have the energy for this. Whatever.” And then he does the cloak swish perfectly, and it made me happy. Ooh, why did he have to look so good this movie!?

Oh. Um… I haven’t really talked about… You know… Those Snape scenes yet. I mean… I know I was worried that Alan couldn’t pull off the ‘rabid dog’ shtick that was bookcanon, but I was really alright with what he did. I suppose I sort of felt the silent suffering a little, which was interesting, but I admit he really was much more subdued than I would have liked. That, and he didn't have to bolt off, which was weird, and he just sort of moseyed away... I don't love it, but I'm not having a problem with it as much as I thought I would… OH. They thing with Harry beneath the floor and Snape shows up out of nowhere? And just the little, “shh” was really unsuspected. I’m not sure if I really like that, and I don’t know if it makes him seem more good or bad, but I suppose more Snape doing anything is okay, right? Um… Yeah, the whole part at the end made me really sad, though… Hey. Now that I think about it, he never did the “DON’T CALL ME COWARD!!!1!” thing. Which… Hey, actually, that was really important. I know I’m nitpicking here, but really. Actually, you know what else I noticed? This isn’t a critique, but you know how we have that trailer with Snape’s line, “It’s over”? The book has him shouting that to the Death Eaters to make them leave, the trailer had him saying it, as though to Harry saying, “give it up, it’s no use” and then I don’t think I saw it in the movie at all. I think I would have remembered it. Hm… Anyway, I really do think I crushed Echo’s poor little hand.

So anyway, I was sniffling a little as we left the theatre and Echo pats me on the back like, “Do you need me to hold your hand again?” And I’m just like, “No… But do you know who really needs someone to hold his hand?” And she’s like, “Snaaaaaape?” And I’m like, “Yeeees, Snaaaaaape…” So she laughs about this and says, “Well, you and Makani can both hold his hand.” And I’m like, “Yeah! We can each be on one side, and we can kind of swing them back and forth and be like, ‘la la la la la!’ and Snape would be like, ‘What? What is this? Let go of me. Stop that. No- Unhand me at once! No, I’m serious, stop giggling!’ and we’d just be like, ‘We love you Snaaaaaaaape!!!’” =DDDDD

I just realized that it is now light outside. Oops. I forgot to go to bed. Meh. I’ll go to sleep now and post this later on. Goodnight, it’s 5:32 in the morning. XDDD

(So, basically, I’ll sum it up this way. This was my favorite Potter movie to date. It thin it will remain my favorite Potter movie. Also, it should have a party (all up in here!) with Ouran, because both are complete and utter fluff. HBP was like, “fluff, Voldemort, fluff, Snape, fluff, Snape, Voldemort, fluff, Snape…”)

In fact, here is a Helpful Diagram:

Farewell!
And goodnight! Tomorrow I''m off to a Communist country where I shall no doubt be thrown in front of a rickshaw by the most dreaded Beekbeast, after which my brains will be scooped up either by the aforementioned Beeks, who will stick it in an ice cream cone and eat it with rainbow sprinkles, or a poor noodle vendor who will mush it up and sell it to some unsuspecting tourist.

Or something. XDDD

I'll post when I get back, not only about China, but about the last few Ouran episodes I'll watch, as well as a few movies (Fanboys, Love Actually WTK is up with my taste in movies it's all over the map) and my commentary (fasten your seatbelts it's a comm-en-tar-y~) on Half Blood Prince, which I suspect will take me about eight or nine hours to read, leaving me with at least ten more hours for whatever just on that one flight.
I must ask, wouldn't you think a plane from Boston to California and then Hong Kong would be a good idea? Who came up with the plan to go from Boston to Newark (New Jersey) to Hong Kong? It makes no logical sense, so much so that you wouldn't need pointy ears to recognize how illogical it is. Anyway, so we leave in the morning for a 2 hour flight to NJ, there's a layover of about 4 hours (argh) and then 18 or so hours to Hong Kong. Whoo... But hey, I shouldn't be complaining. It'll be awesome, I keep telling myself, mostly to offset Mum who's like, "ASDFGHJKLKJHGFDS
DFGHHJKLKJHGJFOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGYOU'RE GOING TO DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE~"

But I'm not going to die, unless the events of the first paragraph become an unfortunate reality.

*Just Had An Incredible Fan!Splee Moment*
So, I was watching the Colbert Report (<333) and during the break I saw a NEW HPB COMMERCIAL. omgomgomgomgomgomg... There were a few new clips, including a Snape-y one, with him throwing back this curtain and looking deliciously fabulous and did I just say that? Um... Anyway, I think it was from Slughorn's party, which I want to see so dearly... God, I cannot WAIT for this movie. So yeah, I had to leap up and scramble to find my computer to post something, simply because I didn't even giggle, per se, and I didn't splee in the strictest sense... It was more of a choked gasp, followed by... Well, choking. I'M A LOST CAUSE, I KNOW. (BTW, I just looked up another tv spot, and found Lavender gushing on about Ron with Snape in the background like, "Um... What?" XDDD <333 Also Dumbles being all "Hey Harry, you should ask Ginny on a date," and Harry all, "Noooooooo~" XD So awkward.)

Anyway, I just had to post that quick.

(Though I'd like to get it out there that I have spent far too long searching for Ouran soundtrack downloads in vain. Can I make a distress call out to the peeps on this account? (Sakura Kiss for strings is sooo pretty and I need it~)

Finals Make the Kobayashi Maru Test Look Easy
But: I come bearing exceptional news that I would love nothing more than to archive here so that I may look back to it and giggle like a little girl.

I GAVE SNAPEKID A COOKIE.

It was awesome. I had made a giant batch of cookies since it was the last day before finals, and I was walking back from lunch and he was behind me, so I just turned around and was like, "Oh, hey Eli, Rachel said I should give you a cookie." And he actually wasn't too taken aback (maybe he had seen me give one to Ms. Colotti earlier?) and was just like, "Uh... Thank you." So then Echo comes running up to me while I'm at my locker all, "DID YOU GIVE SNAPEKID A COOKIE!!1!??" And I sort of brush it off like, "I dunno, why would you think so?" "BECAUSE I JUST SAW SNAPEKID WALKING DOWN THE HALL EATING A COOKIE."

So anyway, I was in math the next day talking to Rachel, and she's like, "Oh, yeah. Did you give Eli a cookie?" I kinda got worried like, "Did he say something? Wait, you covered for me, right?" And she just laughed, and I'll try to quote this as closely as I can: "Well, my mom picked me up yesterday and I heard Eli yelling at me from the second floor, and I figured he was just trying to mooch a ride off me- because he's SUCH a mooch- and instead he asked like, 'Hey Rachel, did you tell that girl to give me a cookie?' And I was like, 'Uhhhhh... Yeah?' because I heard 'girl' and 'cookie' and I know you think he's funny, so I immediately got this mental image of you in my head, and then he was like, 'Oh, thanks. It was really good.'" And by that time I was bright red and giggling furiously. XDDD I AM SO FAR GONE.

Cookie-ing other people was fun too, like Beekley with her almost biting my arm off with it, and Quadros with his G-rated version of, "HELLZ YEAH I WANT A COOKIE." Actually, that was just one of those things that reminded me how young he is- I think he's only 25 or something. But I saw his senior square in one of the old yearbooks, and it made me wonder why- after writing something nasty and sarcastic enough to even make Snape proud- would you want to go back and teach at a school you hated? He's a little Snape-y, I think, especially with the picture that they had of him. He kinda looked like that kid that didn't have any friends because everyone thought he was creepy. DDD= Maybe that explains why I don't hate him like everyone else does. Hm... I know he thanked me a second time, the day after, probably because no one else gives him stuff like that, even though it went something like, "Oh, Paige-" "Grace." "Huh?" (all Billy-like) "Grace, is my name." (I really look nothing like Paige!)

It was alot of fun. We watched Dr. Horrible for the millionth time (and it never gets old) and Fruits Basket (Hatori <33333) and Teen Titans (of which I forgot how many episodes are like one giant fight scene, and now I really want to go and rewatch it since there are so many episodes I've only scene, like, once...) I also traded some POKEMANZ over from Amanda's action replayed Platinum, but not too many, since I want something to do on the flight to China. (Though I'm also bringing a paperback copy of HBP, and then write all over it. I'll aso probably doodle on sticky notes to put in there. It's going to be awesome.)

Speaking of China, I've learned that if I don't bring my own fork or something, I am probably going to starve. XD

I've also learned that sticking "in bed" on the end of fortune cookie phrases is so entertaining. XDDD

So anyway, I can't remember all the other things I was going to say, but hey, whatever. Only two more days of school! (And four finals... -_-;)
The Evils of Facebook

I did a bad thing. A terrible, horrible thing. I went and actually did something with my facebook. I know, I know, I'm sorry! But it's a scary place. It's full of people posting pictures of themselves like, "HAY LOOKIT MEEEE~" and then commenting with spelling that would insult the intelligence of a five year-old. Furthermore, and I quote Mum here, "Facebook is like STDs." And it's true! I have Masco friends who are friends with St. Mary's friends who are friends with Georgetown friends... HOW DO THESE PEOPLE KNOW EACH OTHER? And then even further, it's 11:00, and people are almost instantly accepting my friend requests. It's like, why exactly is everyone I know on this website at such a late hour? IDK. But the thing is, I'm still looking at it, and looking for people I know. Oh. And Mum also says it's like a car wreck. It's horrible, but you're drawn to it, and you just can't help it.

Oh, and another thing? I was looking through Rachel's friends page, and it turns out that Snapekid has a facebook too. XDDD (And he has over 200 friends!) Why does that make me laugh so hard?

Well, actually, that doesn't make me laugh as hard as this other thing Mum said. She made me promise not to post this, but I am. She realized that in regards to Snapekid's house, she had the wrong one, and it's not purple-y-pink, its a different house that's actually bubblegum pink. But anyway, she says, "I was just thinking... Snapekid's pink house is kinda like the equivalent to Snape's grey underwear, don't you think?" MUM FTW~ XDDDDDDD OW WAIT MY BRAIN OW

ANYWAY. On a whole other note, I listened to the released music for Kenji and I got that little leaping feeling in my chest, followed by incessant squealing. JAKE'S THEME MADE ME WANT TO CRY WITH JOY~ And Blue Badger of course, and Miiiiiiles~ (And I like the new Pursuit theme, even though it's sorta different.) It's like... I feel almost proud of the fandom.

I took pics of the fandomcase, finally, so those should be up soon. =DDD

And after thinking about it, I reeeeally want to write a Snape/Silent Hill crossover fic. It would be really interesting, I think, but I have to finish my other projects first (like the Royal fic! Though, speaking of that, I'm going to give khoany Havemercy to read, so maybe that will inspire me.)

I just had this interesting exchange with Mum; she look at the news online, and she watches the D-Day ceremony and sees the thing on the sidebar: "ABC NEWS LIVE." So, "Is it really live?" she asks. And without thinking, I say, "Well, it was live when they taped it." This causes an awkward pause as we think about this. Oddly enough, things like this happen alot. (EDIT: She looked at my title quick, and asked, "Who is the Elvis of facebook?)

MOAR SNAEPKIDZ
Although, Snapekid was hanging out with this other kid who chevy_the_geek swears is just like Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins, so I'm on the lookout for Loochkid as well. =DDD

Oddly enough, somehow all of my friends and acquaintances somehow know who Snapekid is, and I brought this up to Rachel and asked if she thought he noticed how random sophomore girls would start giggling as they stared at him and walked by. "Um... I don't think so," she said. "Actually, a little while ago I told him that I have a friend who thinks he looks like Snape..." "Oh, God, you didn't." "I did, and he said, 'Actually, I've gotten that before.'" So go figure. Although she also said that he was kinda weird, and I asked if it was in a bad way and she said no, and that she couldn't really describe it. Later I was talking to Katie, and she said, "Yeah, he's kinda weird." "In a bad way?" I ask. "No... I don't know how to describe it." And I'm like, "Didn't I just have this discussion about an hour ago?" (Maybe he uses Legilimency to brainwash everyone into saying that? Maybe he's covering up a secret identity. Maybe he's a ninja.) So in the end, the only thing I got from Rachel was, "Yeah, he's really mature about most things... But then he surprises you when he's immature about other things." And I'm like, "Huh what?" (And Rachel confirms my comparison, his voice is as low as, if not lower than Alan Rickman's. And he's a freshman.)

(BTW? In an extremely un-Snape-y tidbit, Rachel has informed me that Snapekid has allowed his headphones to be affectionately nicknamed, 'The Music-Boobs,' apparently because they don't came off. XDDDD WTK asdfghjkl; OMG MY BRAIN OW GOD OW) Actually, there's another un-Snape-y bit, and I swear this gave me the greatest laugh in weeks: Rachel says, "Yeah, his house is pink." "Pink?" I ask, incredulous. "Yeah. He hates it." Then, after coming home and mentioning this to Mum, she says, "Oh yeah, I know which one that is. Wait, Snapekid lives in that house?" "Um?" "Geez, poor kid." Apparently, as according to Mum, "It's abhorrently pinkish-purple." Just now I asked D, "Do you know that pink house on the way to school?" "Yeah?" "That's Snapekid's house." And he just laughed, and then added a, "Oh, bummer."

I also noticed that yesterday he was wearing a Jethro Tull t-shirt, and all I could think of was the bazillion car rides to school in first grade, where that was the only thing dad ever played. I also remember him playing the flute, and I think Paradise Steakhouse was the only song he could actually play on that thing.

SO. On another note, (actually there are three more notes,) I first have a Silent Hill tidbit. Chevy recently had a dream in which PyramidHead was on Oprah for a makeover. Apparently he used to be a doctor in a really crumby area, and all the doctors made fun of him, and since it was in a rough part of town, he had to wear a bullet-proof helmet, so he pulled it all the way over his head and became PH. Also, his name is Drew. And he likes to wear Hawaiian shirts. I am now going to draw this.

Next, PROFESSOR LAYTON 2 TRAILER ASDFGHJKL;OMGOMGOMGOMGASDFGHJKL:frjjfjrsgrgjaargnho'ipriw- I first noticed the 'alcohol references' in the warnings label, and I have to wonder, "IS LAYTON SPIKING HIS TEA?" Also swooooord fiiiiights asdfghjkl; OMG ahhhhheeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! <3333333333333 fdghjguiutllygiutgfghjm~

Lastly, khoany stood up in English today when the topic of China was brought up, and she said, "BTW, guys? We are all going to get diarrhea. Definitely. But, it's going to be the best damn diarrhea we've ever had." To which I immediately responded, "Ain't it just!" Needless to say, we were both the only ones laughing hysterically.
